Meanwhile, how-ever, gold was discovered amongthe Black Hills — a region thegreater part of which belonged, bythe terms of the treaty, to theSioux reservation. But no treatycould keep the hungry horde ofgold-diggers and adventurers fromoverrunning the interdicted dis-trict.
