It has been built with Chil-mark stone, with dressed quoins,and rubble filling in parts, andcement stucco elsewhere. Some ofthe gables and projecting bays arein half-timber construction in oak, and the roof iscovered with stone healing. The large sitting hall,illustrated overleaf, is treated in panelled oak, withceiling joists and beams and the floor of the samematerial. The oak staircase and long corridor havealso wainscot panelling, between five and six feethigh, the space above being decorated in plaster,modelled after the old manner. The entrance hall
