John Dobbs second son of Charles and Nancy ShepherdDobbs, born 1807, married to Mary Jane Arbuckle 1828, anddied in Jefferson County, Ohio, Island Creek, 1890, aged was a successful farmer, industrious, honorable and aboveall a devout Christian. He was a member of the Methodistchurch for 58 years, having united with the Brays Chapelin 1832. In life he was respected by all, and in death crownedby his Lord, Vv^hom he had served so faithfully. In his faithwas mingled energy, skill, determination and William Dobbs. John Dobbs. One of his chief joys was to gather the little ones about himin the evening when his work for the day was done, and in-struct and amuse them with stories. His grandchildren lovedhim, for he was never known to quarrel with anyone.
