Liopleurodon dinosaur. Computer illustration of a Liopleurodon sp. marine dinosaur. This carnivorous plesiosaur lived during the Callovian stage of the Middle Jurassic Period (around 160 to 155 million years ago), in the seas around what is now Europe. The largest species (L. ferox) is estimated to have reached metres long.
