InAugust, 1918, Lieutenant Daly sailed forFrance with the Eighty-sixth arrival overseas, he was assignedto the 322nd Infantry, with which reg-iment he remained until he was taken illand sent back to the States in January,1919. After one years illness influenza,followed by meningitis, set in, and deathoccurred. Lieutenant Daly was unmar-ried. His parents are both deceased. Heis survived by one brother, K. A. DA VANON Lieutenant Da Vanon was born in Yuma, Colo., on May I 5, I 886. He waseducated in the public schools of thatplace, later moving to Chicago, where hewas employed as a salesman by theSchulze Baking Company. He served inthe Regular Army and Illinois NationalGuard prior to his admittance to the Sec-ond Officers Training Camp at FortSheridan, where he was assigned to theTv^^enty-second Company. Upon receiv-ing a commission. Lieutenant Da Vanon■was ordered overseas, sailing as a casualon December 25, 1917. After furthertraining in France, he w^as assigned to acombat division and participated in severalengagements, finally being returned to theUnited States on account of wounds r
