Homo habilis (1813) skull. Front view of the skull of the fossil hominid Homo habilis (KNM-ER 1813). The name means \handy man\". This skull was found at Koobi Fora in East Turkana, Kenya. The rounded forehead is raised, yet the brain size of this specimen is small at 510 ml. It is less ancient than specimen 1470, and is more human in several characteristics including small teeth. The face in H. habilis is long, broad and flat, with australopithecine-like cheekbones. Evidence from skeletal remains suggest H. habilis were large in body size. They used stone tools. The species of H. habilis had a wide distribution in Africa, and lived from to million years ago."
