The Company finally consented to permit themoney to be used in accordance with the cherished wishes of theGovernor, reserving the right to pay it in instalments as it might beneeded. The generosity of this concession will be appreciated, whenit is considered that making grants for equipping troops in a timeof danger was but making provision to guard its own extensiveinterests; while giving money to aid helpless children was a mostunselfish and purely beneficent
