It possesses the desirable qualities of a good shipper, early maturity, large size, handsome form, bright, fresh appearance, thin but firm rind, which will endure handling, and remains a long: time before showing any signs of decay. The skin is dark green beautifully striped; the flesh a bright, deep scarlet, sweet, tender, and juicy, quite free from stringiness. It is a reliable cropper, the vines grow strong, and are very hardy, resisting cold and wet to a remarkable degree. It is pronounced superior to and earlier than the well- known Kolb's Gem. Pkt., 3c; oz., 7c; J^lb., 20c; lb., 70c VICK'S EARLY. Especially recommended for its extreme earliness, this characteristic makes it particularly desirable in the more northern latitudes.
