Paraphoxus spinosus, male. Newport. K. 1. margin; second uropods reaching about to middle of rami of first pair; third uropods extending farbeyond the first; rami furnished with plumose set* on both margins, outer ramus with a few shortspines on outer side; telson longer than broad, the distally rounded. Type No. 29241, V. P. Nat. Mus. Length, nun. Newport, R. I., taken by S. D. Judd. Numerous specimens were examined, but they were apparently all males and unfortunately the•terminal joints of the first antenna had in all eases been broken off. In the type ! Para-phoxus l /. oculatus) the two pairs of antenna in the female are of nearly equal length, the eyes of thefemale are very much smaller than those of the male, and the terminal uropods smaller, much moreunequal in size, and devoid of the marginal plumose setae found in the male. It is probable thatsimilar sexual differences will be found to occur in the present species.
