A 1900 portrait of British music hall comedian Alec Hurley ( full name Alexander Hurley 1871-1913) a former dock worker, tea packer and boxer who became the second husband of Marie Lloyd with whom he toured Australia. After his boxing matches he would perform a song entitled "The Strongest Man on Earth". A popular music hall performer, he used Cockney material and gained a reputation as a Coster comedian / singer. He died of pnuemonia at Jack Straw's Castle public house, Hampstead, London ,only a week after being diagnosed in 1913.
