Robert Cailliau (born 1947), Belgian computer scientist. Cailliau is best known as the co-developer of the World Wide Web (WWW or Web). Whilst working at CERN, the European particle physics laboratory near Geneva, he became involved in text processing. As a result of this work, Cailliau was instrumental in creating the method by which documents on different computers may be linked. Photographed at CERN, Geneva, Switzerland in 2008.
