The rent wal of the horns.âThe first young horns of a two-year-old buck (No. |£ffo-, , Cloverdale), killed July L5, were covered with fresh velvet, and measured ~>1 mm. in length. Another in the second year (No. §-{nHH), ) had hard, polished spike horns 95 nun. in length when killed. November '27. An adult male (No. 59928, ), killed Augusl 29, had vascular horn- only 110 mm. high. An old male ( No. 20680), taken September 5, L892, had horn- in mature velvet. Two adult-, killed September 8, 1893, had large horns in velvet ju-t beginning to rub off. Another old male (No. |fH£, ), killed October 1. had fully grown horns, but still.
