GULF OF ADEN (Dec. 22, 2016) Aerographer’s Mate 2nd Class Leopold Kalaitzidis, from Bakersfield, Calif., uses an anemometer to gauge wind speed aboard the amphibious assault ship USS Makin Island (LHD 8). Makin Island is deployed as part of the Makin Island Amphibious Ready Group to the 5th Fleet area of operations to support maritime security operations and theater security cooperation efforts.
