I have myself taken them with light tackle and fomid them as gamy as brook trout in preserved streams. In ]\Iassachu- sctts it is often called the " Cousin Trout" in allu'.ion to its trout-like habits, and also the " Chiven " from its resemblance to the English Chub or Cheven.
