Florida Lobsterboat "SOL Y MAR"
The Fishing Vessel "SOL Y Mara€ is being loaded with traps for catching Florida Lobsters. Most of the traps used in the Florida spiny lobster fishery are wood slat traps like these shown here. The Florida lobster, or crayfish, is a beautifully colored crustacean mottled with brown, green and blue, and dotted with light yellow or white spots on the tail sections. There are numerous spines on the body, and two large hooked horns over the eyes that characterize it…€¦ along with a pair of long-jointed antennae and five pairs of walking legs. The Florida lobster does not have the large, meat-filled claws characteristic of the northern lobster (also known as the Maine lobster). The meat of the spiny lobster comes primarily from its tail section.
