Detail of the decorative mid-1500s painted façade of Palazzo Alberti-Colico, among the fine Renaissance palaces showing a strong Venetian influence which line Via Belenzani, a main thoroughfare in Trento, Trentino-Alto Adige, Italy.

Palazzo Alberti-Colico, Trento, Trentino-Alto Adige, Italy: mid-1500s painted facade. The Palazzo Alberti-Colico, created in 1532 by the merger of two adjoining houses into a single building, is on Via Belenzani (formerly Contrada Larga). Its facade, designed in the 1500s, is a mixture of Renaissance and late-medieval elements: 1500s frescoes are superimposed on paintings from the previous century. Floral motifs and friezes are evidence of Venetian influence. A myriad of architectural styles and details are testament to numerous changes of ownership and renovations. Trento was formerly part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire and was annexed by Italy in 1919.
