During the 2016 post season thousands made a pilgrim-like journey to Wrigley Field to leave messages written in chalk. Chicago, Illinois, USA.
During the National League Championship Series and, especially the World Series, tens of thousands of people made a pilgrim-like journey to Wrigley Field, to write chalk messages of encouragement and in memorial to generations that had passed such as these along Waveland Avenue. The messages were triggered by the Chicago Cubs advancing to the World Series for the first time in 71 years. The process continued after the World Series was won by the Cubs for their first World Championship in 108 years! Eventually, messages expanded along all of the ballpark's walls and spilled over onto sidewalks and apartment buildings across the street.
