Galena, Alaska, May 21, 2014 FEMA Federal Coordinating Officer (FCO) Willie Nunn (C) and FCO Dolph Diemont (L) inspect I beam supports which will serve as foundations to new homes that are being elevated in a repetitive loss environment. After severe flooding destroyed the previous homes in 2013, FEMA and the State of Alaska worked closely with the City of Galena to repair and elevate the homes above the base level flood elevation to mitigate future losses.
