May 8, 1924 NORTH CAROLINA CHRISTIAN ADVOCATE Seven. Hawthorne Lane Church, Charlotte, which was recently dedicated by Bishop Collins Denny. Not yet ten years old, this is one of the outstanding churches of North Carolina Methodism. Has 700 members, pays pastor a salary of $4,000, contributes largely to all the institutions of the church, and is now beginning the construc-tion of a great educational building. Rev. L. D. Thompson is the pastor. A LARGE INGATHERING AT LIN-COLNTON On April 6th the Baptist, Episcopal,Lutheran, Methodist, Presbyterianand Reformed churches began a simul-taneous evangelistic campaign. Visit-ing pastors did the preaching in theBaptist, Episcopal and Presbyterianchurches. The local pastors held theirown meetings in the other ten oclock in the morning the sixcongregations joined in a union ser-vice, alternating from church tochurch.
