There is an abundance of stock of all descriptioHip, as usual here at this time of the year. With the offerings on the increase, some items are inclined to ac- cumulate to a certain extent, but the facts that shipping holds up well and that local business is seasonably brisk, seem to keep the surplus from becom- ing burdensome. Prices are more or less unstable, however, values depend- ing largely upon the immediate demand. The feature at present is the heavy crop of Darwin and other tulips. Large shipments are coming from Eureka, Cal., in addition to the stock grown in the San Francisco bay region. The first part of the week the best long-stemmed tulips brought 75 cents per dozen, but, by Wednesday, 60 cents was top price and many were being sold as low as 25 cents. Daffodils are still coming from the north, but the local crop is about gone; the best bring $1 per hundred. In the wealth of miscellaneous flowers, anem- ones and ranunculi are prominent items, both in regard to supply and demand, the former selling five or six dozen for $1, and the 25 cents per dozen. Peonies are starting and irises are offered in limited quantity. Indoor freesias are about gone, after a long and successful run. The outdoor blooms do not seem to take their place. Santa Cruz growers have about stopped ship- ments of these flowers to this market, in view
