Pro-abortion campaign, 1977. Women holding up a banner stating: 'If men got pregnant abortion would be sacred'. They are at the National Women's Conference that took place at the Sam Houston Coliseum from 18-21 November 1977, in Houston, Texas, USA. The resulting National Action Plan included a statement on 'Reproductive Freedom', with calls to ensure the availability of safe and legal abortions. Although the landmark legal decision 'Roe v. Wade' in 1973 had decriminalised abortion, it was still difficult for women in some areas to obtain them safely.
