The owl blends in to the bark almost too well ABERDEEN, SCOTLAND TRICK OF THE EYE images taken on November 6th 2023 show an owl napping in a tree stump and blending in so well it is almost invisible. Images show the tawny owl just peaking over the tree before getting comfy for a nap and camouflaging into its surroundings. The tawny owl, also called the brown owl, is commonly found in woodlands across Europe to western Siberia, and has seven recognized subspecies. It is a stocky, medium-sized owl, whose underparts are pale with dark streaks, and whose upper body may be either brown or grey. These images were captured by Oil and Gas Tank Maintenance worker Mark Deans (36) from Aberdeen Scotland. Mark captured the serene owl in Aberdeen City Nature Park, Scotland on his Canon D6 with a Sigma 150-600 contemporary lens. ?I was walking with my girlfriend in the park and she found one sitting in the tree in the daylight then I came back at night and found four more,? said Mark. ?This is the main tree I find them in daily and all day as well. ?You don't see many images of tawny owls in a hole in the tree like this in Aberdeen and it's really nice to see them in their natural home. ?Most of the time you see them on fence posts or sitting on a branch. ?I love the shot that shows the colour of the bird blending in with the tree so well it's hard to spot unless you look for it. ?I love the fact that the owls are in plain sight in Aberdeen and more than 35 people can walk past and still be unaware of what is ten feet away from them. ?I stand there sometimes watching people walk past and their faces logged in to their phones and if they only just look up from them they will see a gorgeous wee bird."
