Enlightened Buddha with golden ushnisha holding a bowl in Lotus

This is a Buddha statue at a park near Wat Chet Yod in Chiang Mai, Thailand. Mudras can be understood as energised gestures or expressions of hands and body. Using them one can "clean" the subtle energetic pathways of the body - the so called nadis. This helps to strengthen the meditation practice and one can become strong, healthy and balanced on the physical level. Here he is holding a vessel in front of his belly.
