A BMT D-Type Triplex train, in use from 1927-1965, travels from the NY Transit Museum on a short run to Hoyt-Schermerhorn Station to mark the 100th anniversary of the Brooklyn-Manhattan Transit Corp. (BMT). The BMT opened cutting transit time from Manhattan to Coney Island to 48 minutes and spurred development in what was then rural Brooklyn. The MTA will be running the trains as part of the centennial celebration on June 27 and 28 from the Brighton Beach Station to Coney Island. (© Richard B. Levine)
