Thomas The Barge rests on the bed of the River Aire beneath the Millennium Bridge in Castleford , after kids let it loose during a storm in 1977.

Thomas is a sunken barge that was let loose by kids during a storm in 1977. It came to rest at the bottom of the weir on the River Aire in Castleford and has remained here since. There was an opportunity to remove it when the new footbridge was built in 2008 but locals wanted to keep it
