As for the quarter, there are two kinds of runners for thisdistance—those who lack stay, but have speed, and those withplenty of stay but little speed. The runner lacking in stay shouldrun over the distance, going frequent 1,000 yards, and occasionallythree-quarter miles and miles. The other type of athlete shoulddo most of his training at distances less than the half. All half-milers should not forget to do some quarter-mile running andsome sprinting to keep them speedy.
