A Chinelo dancer walks to carnival celebrations in Tlayacapan, Mexico, February 5, 2008. Groups of Chinelos dance the "Brinco del Chinelo," or the Chinelo hop during Carnival. Spanish colonizers brought the tradition of Carnival to the Americas, which is celebrated just before the Catholic Lenten season.
