New for 2014 is Inspiration Street, a series of small courtyard gardens set against the backdrop of a traditional street scene. The Avenue will offer beautiful, larger scale gardens, plus a new Community Spirit feature with ‘message in a garden’ designs from community groups and charities.

Many people struggle with the plot at the front of their house and yet, for some properties, it makes up most of the outside space. Designers and estate agents often talk about 'kerb appeal' but, whatever you choose to call it, making the most of every bit of your garden becomes a real possibility with the right inspiration. A new concept in small scale design with a row of 5m x 3m or 5m x 4m gardens, set against the backdrop of a traditional street, to give lots of ideas to take home. IS3 Be resourceful This is a garden that makes the most of found objects and recycled materials, allowing people and wildlife to co-habit happily in a small space. Groundwork’s theme supports Waste Less; Live More week, a Keep Britain Tidy initiative that invites people to join a challenge to be more resourceful. From 22-28 September this year, there will be an opportunity to find out how to be resourceful and reconnect with your belongings to make things last longer – wasting less and living more. Top honours went to Groundwork, Leeds, for their Inspiration Street garden, Be Resourceful IS4, which showcases how to reuse materials to create a beautiful, but less wasteful outdoor space. They won a Gold Award, as well as Best in Show and the Newby Cup for excellent planting.
