Private C. E. Dunn, a member of the Signal Corps, captured a photograph on September 10, 1918, near Chéry Chartreuve, France. The image shows Major T. L. Sherburne, the chief Signal officer, and Captain Charles R. Johnston of the 11th Infantry, 4th Division. They were caught by a gas shell fired by the Germans. The date of this photograph is unknown, and it has been approved by the A. E. P. censor.
