Greek legend said King Rhampsinites of Egypt so loved wealth and riches that he built a vault to house his treasures.
According to Greek legend, Rhampsinites (also spelled Rhampsinutus) was a king of Egypt. He so loved wealth and riches that he had his mason build a room with no openings to houses his treasures—pictured here in this 1915 illustration by American artist Evelyn Paul. When the mason was dying, he told his sons of a mark he left that would give them access to the treasures. They gained access and gradually took what they wanted. The king tried to catch them and finally, after one brother died getting the treasures, the king thought the robber was so clever he would give him his daughter in marriage - if he confessed. the surviving brother did and was given the princess.
