II CLAIMS AGAINST AND IN BEHALF OF THE BOARDClaims Against the Board (a) Five claims for damages alleged to have arisen because ofinjuries to persons or property by reason of the operation and main-tenance of the State Belt Railroad and two claims for damages arisingout of other accidents on the waterfront have been considered and theclaimants or their attorneys answered. Liability in all cases wasdenied. Claims Made in Behalf of the Board (a) Three claims for damage to State Belt Railroad equipmentwere presented to parties responsible for same, all of which have beencollected. Fourteen claims for damage to other harbor board prop-erty have been presented to parties responsible for them. Three of. (b) Six claims on behalf of the board arising from other sourcesthan accidents have been considered. These have all been paid orsatisfactorily adjusted with the exception of one on which suit hasbeen filed for collection. Ill STATE BELT RAILROAD (a) Inquests: Two coroners inquests were attended, the verdictsbeing Death due to accidental causes in one which was an accidentcase, and Death due to natural causes in the other. (b) Accidents: In addition to five claims for damages alleged tohave arisen because of injuries to persons or property by reason ofthe operation of the State Belt Railroad, and three claims for damagesto State Belt Railroad equipment, reported under the headingClaims, forty reports on other accidents on the State Belt Rail-road were
