Samuel S. Mitchell was received underthe care of Presbytery as a licentiate from the Pres-bytery of New Brunswick on Oct. 4, 1864, and ac-cepted a call from the church, which had been madeat a congregational meeting held on the 3d of thepreceding May. He was ordained and installed onNov. 15, 1864. He remained pastor of the churchfour years and three months, when he accepted a callto the New York Avenue Church of WashingtonCity. The pastoral relation with this church was dis-solved Feb. 23, PINE STREET PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH. The third pastor of the church was the Rev. Addi-son K. Strong, , who was called at a meetingheld Feb. 3, 1870. The call was presented at a meet-ing of Presbytery held April 13, 1870. He was in-stalled on the 14th of June. His pastorate contin-ued three years and eight months, when he accepteda call to the Presbyterian Church in Kalamazoo,Mich., and on Feb. 12, 1874, the pastoral relation tothis church was dissolved by Presbytery. The Sunday-school celebrated its fifteenth anniver-sary on the evening of Feb. 1, 1874. This celebra-tion was of more than a passing interest. Thecrowded rooms that night gave occasion for thank-fulness and regret,—thankfulness at the remarkablegrowth of the school, which then numbered overeight hundred members, and regret that its accom-modations were not more ample.
