According to Drummond (1750) probablythe whole work was repaired by Savorniani, who inthe year 1525 demolished the old works of these placesand re-fortified them. I do not know if he is correctand am, I confess, ignorant of the fame of Savorniani,although I think I have read somewhere that he wasa noted military engineer of the period.
