The River Ravensbourne rises at Caesar's Well via Keston Ponds. The Ravensbourne is 11 miles ( km) in length and flows through the London Boroughs of Bromley, Lewisham and Greenwich. Since 1991, Quaggy Waterways Action Group (QWAG) have spent millions maintaining the River Ravensbourne. The "London LOOP" walk passes the ponds on its way from Farnborough to West Wickham. Every year on 1 May at , the Ravensbourne Morris Men dance up the Beltaine Sunrise at Caesars Well, the source of the Ravensbourne Well in Greater London. Hope's "Legendary Lore" recounts a legend that Caesar’s legions, marching towards London and thirsty, were shown this well by a raven. It is said to possess healing properties and is the source of the River Ravensbourne. Marked on the 1871 OS map approximately north west of the site of Caesar’s Camp at is next to Keston Pond, and feeds into it. Part of Keston Common, it is to be found just down hill from the car park.
