Foetuses and DNA. Abstract artwork of unborn human babies (foetuses) with a portable laptop computer. On the computer's screen are foetuses amongst strands of genetic material or DNA (Deoxyribonucleic Acid). This image could represent genetic engineering or the mapping of the human genes, known as the human genome project. DNA controls the development and functioning of the cells in the human body. DNA is a complex molecule made of two helical linked strands. These strands include molecules known as bases. The sequence of these bases along the strands determines the genes along the DNA.
