Shoemaker impact structure, Australia, satellite image

False-colour satellite image of the Shoemaker impact structure in Western Australia. This structure, previously name the Teague ring, was formed by the impact of a meteorite between 1000 and 600 million years ago. The impact site is the almost circular area at bottom right. Concentric rings formed in sedimentary rock by the impact are dark brown. Water is bright blue. Data obtained by the Copernicus Sentinel-2 satellite.
