View of the Trans Eurpoa Ferry 'Larkspur'. moored at Ramsgate Ferry Terminal.

This vessel was originally built as Gedser in 1976 to run on a Baltic service between her namesake and Travemunde in Germany. She made her debut on the Channel when she was acquired by Sally line and renamed Viking 2 for their Ramsgate/Dunkerque (Ouest) route. In 1988 she was renamed Sally Sky and two years later was lengthened in order to bring her closer in line with the larger Sally Star. After the removal of the latter in 1997, Sally Sky continued to operate from Ramsgate but under the name of Eurotraveller. She switched to the Ramsgate/Oostende route under the banner of Holyman Sally Ferries. This joint operation was abandoned in 1998, with Holyman transferring their catamarans to Dover in conjunction with Hoverspeed. Meanwhile Sally Line ceased trading and Eurotraveller was later acquired by TransEuropa Ferries. She is now known as Larkspur and has been beautifully renovated in recent years. Latterly she has been carrying tourist traffic in addition to freight and is very much to be recommended for those seeking a quiet crossing in comfortable surroundings. Despite her grand age, she remains a much liked vessel within TransEuropa's fleet.
