Riverside slums. Buildings erected alongside a river near Pasig City in the Philippines. This city is part of the larger metropolitan region that surrounds and includes the Manila, the capital of the Philippines. The major river in this region is the Pasig River, which flows between Laguna de Bay and Manila Bay. This river is heavily polluted by sewage and other effluent from the surrounding urban areas.
