A wheellock musket, Germany, presumably Saxony, circa 1600. Heavy hexagonal barrel with a smooth bore in 18 mm calibre. A narrow groove on top of the barrel. Dovetailed sights. The master's initials "DM" are stamped on top of the breech. The lock has an exterior, covered wheel. Cock is a good replacement. Pan cover spring missing. Walnut full stock with staghorn nose cap and inlays. Patch box and cheek piece have overlays of engraved bone. The overlay on top of the butt stock is missing. The wooden ramrod with horn tip does not belong to this weapon. Length 136,
