The ofScial roster of Beckert's Seed Store, Pittsburgh, is: President, A. L. Beckert; vice-president, A. F. Frishkorn; treasurer, John W. Edwards; secretary, Robert D. Edwards. According to 1919 census statistics, vegetables grown for sale on farms amounted in value to $193,248,964, while those grown for home use had an aggre- gate value of $344,665,728. Bermuda appears to have staged some- thing of a "come-back" in the matter of Lilium Harrisii, though, of course, there will never be the quantities of bulbs imported from that island that there once were. From 800,000 to 900,000 pounds of cucumber seed are consumed annually in the United States. To yield a pound of seed forty to fifty fruits are required and there are 12,000 to 15,000 cucumbers to the acre. There are about thirty-five varieties in general use. The Western Canners' Association is planning a big convention in Chicago next November, The association includes members in seventeen states and is said to be the oldest canners' association in the world.
