William Cornelius Van Horne was instrumental in the completion of Canada's first intercontenental railroad, the Canadian Pacific Railway. As president of the railway he also presided in the expansion of the company into luxury hotels. Here his statue is situated in the courtyard of the Banff Springs Hotel.
