Eiffel Tower radio station. In the foreground are the transmitters, while on the wall are the receivers and other apparatus. At right is one of the radio operators. The Eiffel Tower, located in Paris, France, was built between 1887 and 1889, and reaches a height of 300 metres. Radio technology was developed in the 1890s. Proposals to use the Eiffel Tower as a radio tower were first made in 1901, and a permanent long-distance radio base was established here in 1906.
