He was licensed to practice by theConnecticut Medical Society the 3d day of August, 1808; and soon after leftfor the West, and took up his residence in Oxford, N. Y., where he openedhis first office. Not satisfied with his location, he removed in October, thenext year, to Mayville, where he practiced his profession, for several years,with marked success. On the 9th of February, 1811, he was commissioned by Gov. Tompkinsas clerk of Chautauqua county at the time of its organization.
