The central part of the retable consists of a niche with a statue of Christ carrying the Cross. Its lower part is flanked by projecting volutes and by reliefs, the evangelists John, Luke, Matthew, and Mark disposed in two vertical rows. The framing consists of a cross-shaped moulding, for the decoration of which alternative suggestions are made on either side. Scrolls are beside the upper part.
