sea aboard USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN 71) Jan. 16, 2002 -- An F/A-18 "Hornet" from the VMFA-251 "Thunderbolts" is launched from the flight deck of USS Theodore Roosevelt while the Phillips Van Almonde (F-823) from the Netherlands acts as a plane guard during flight operations. The Thunderbolts are part of Carrier Air Wing One (CVW 1) currently deployed with the nuclear powered aircraft carrier in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.
