Carnations and roses were in abundance. Valley was scarce and the demand was larger than it has been for some time. Almost all varieties of stock cleaned up well over Memorial day, with good returns. Out- of-tovsm business was also satisfactory. The florists now have their hands full with June weddings and commencement exercises. Club Meeting. ^ The Washington Florists' Club held its monthly meeting June 1 at Edward Schmidt's hall. Regular business was transacted and it was voted to have the summer outing at Great Falls, William F. Gude was again called on to act as spokesman in presenting a fine cut glass set to Lloyd Jenkins, former president of the club. Mr. Gude especially em- phasized the faithfulness shown by Mr. Jenkins during his administration. The gift was a surprise to Mr. Jenkins, who gratefully accepted it. Various Notes. Employees of the local florists and growers have organized a union. Sev- eral attempts have been made to do this, but this is the first one which has met with success. This movement was started by an employer and few are op- posed to it. The aim of this organiza- tion is to have contentment and satis- faction among the employers and em- ployees at all times and at the same time give everyone a fair deal. From all in- dications, this will be taken up by out- of-town florists, as many inquiries have been made in regard to the movement. Since the organization was first formed its membership has increas
