This image may not be used to state or imply ESA endorsement of any company or product MetOp-B weather satellite being prepared for testing after arrival at its launch site. This is one of three meteorological satellites that form the space component of the EUMETSAT (European Organisation for the Exploitation of Meteorological Satellites) Polar System (EPS). It carries 11 instruments to measure and record a wide range of meteorological and atmospheric conditions and will greatly improve weather forecasting and climate monitoring. MetOp-A was launched in 2006, MetOp-B is due for launch on 17th September 2012. Photographed at Baikonur Cosmodrome, Kazakhstan.
