EditlT 0 BO 40 60 roo 140 RAILWAY CONSTRUCTION IN NIGERIA. 355 completely equipped as a permanent railway : the extension from Jebbato Zungeru and the Baro-Kano Railway are to be of a pioneer type :they are not to be fully equipped, and the earthworks are to be of thelightest description. As already stated, the Lagos Railway has nowreached Jebba. The Baro-Kano Railway is being constructed withremarkable rapidity, and on February 17 the rails had reached mile 50. Great difficulties still remain before full advantage can be taken ofthese two railways even when they are completed ; but these are nowbeing resolutely faced.
