That one of these localities con-tained the Garden of Eden there can be but littledoubt, as there is no other place which so nearlymeets the requirements of the Scripture MOUNT AKAEAT is in Armenia, 775 miles of Jerusalem, about300 E. of the Caspian Sea, and is in 39° 30 n. lat. and4:3° 40 E. Ion. fi-om Greenwich. It rises directly outof the plain of the Araxes, and is the loftiest andmost imposing mountain in this region, being 17,560feet above the level of the sea. About 1,200 feet be-low the highest summit is a secondary summit, andbetween the two there is a gentle depression, in whichit is believed the ark rested. Arguri is the only village known to have beenbuilt on the slopes of this mountain, and according totradition it is the place where Noah planted hisvineyard. At the foot of the mountain is Nachdje-van, where the patriarch is reported to have beenburied. M: \im
