On reaching this sixtieth milestone along the path of our busi- ness life, we take the opportunity again to thank our many customers for their loyal and generous patronage in the past, and to assure them that we will do all in our power to merit their con- tinued confidence in the future. The seed catalogue shown in our illustration was published by Germain's in 1890. It listed a very comprehen- sive line of vegetable and field seeds, flower seeds, bulbs and nursery stock, garden implements and accessories and in addition it furnished a wealth of use- ful information for growers and garde- ners. It was then, as Germain's Califor- nia Gardening is today, the most up-to- date seed book published on the Pacific Coast. In our present anniversary edition of California Gardening we have spared no effort to present a book that will be of real service to every grower large or small. It is a book of authoritative informa- tion written by our experienced seeds- men with expert knowledge of each subject treated. The items and varieties offered have been selected with the utmost care and, since a majority of the flower and veg- etable seeds used in the United States are grown in California within easy access from Los Angeles, much of the needed information has been gained first hand in our growing fields.
